BD takes a look at the workspaces of architects

Jose Esteves De Matos said: “Over the years I seem to have appropriated three desks in the office, each covered with paper relating to individual project material.

This is my everyday work desk with immediate action stacks ranging from; site snagging notes for Home Farm in Gloucestershire, recently shortlisted for Rose and WAF awards, to our ongoing rollout of the Refresh programme for Strada, interior design books to review for BD and sketch layouts for a new house at the Lakes by YOO where our spa building is currently on site.  My laptop is always with me and a cup of coffee is a permanent fixture on my desk”.

I have done a risk assessment and the cup of coffee is far too close to the laptop and mouse lead.

I will send in a photo of my desk once I have emptied the ash tray and cleaned up the alcohol stains of the last decades.

  • Lets face it !! the owner of the coffee cup is vicariously responsible for his actions .

Got to agree with the ever wise Ptolemy Jones on this one; that coffee is dangerously close to that laptop. Also I find the handle position of the cup rather disconcerting - should it not be pointing away from the electric computer to avoid getting ones hand in a twist on the way to a good old swig of the silky brown go-go juice? Also this chap needs to have words with his stationers as that red pen appears to be writing with blue highlighter ink, how wonderfully odd!
