BD takes a look at the workspaces of architects

Glenn Howells said: “We all have oversized desks to encourage people to draw. Mine is great for A3 sketches and for collecting all sorts of stuff including unread periodicals, business cards, paper rolls and sketches of The National Memorial Arboretum, one of our current projects.

“Present also is a sailing manual. I’m trying to build enough skill to tempt my family onboard our recently acquired dinghy. The fold-up bike under my desk makes an appearance for short journeys in warm weather. The champagne remains unopened, just waiting for a reason to open it.”

Bottle of bubbly on the desk. The posh english boys will appreciate that.

Splendid show! Lots of carefully selected, high value consumer items. And a very BCBG [bon chic bon genre] lifestyle to go with it, as old polyglot FRH would say. Architecture as it should be. You can see that everyone is having a high old time at Glenn Howells Architects. It is surprising they have any time to design buildings at all. My only complaint is that one cannot make out the type of Champagne from the aerial photo.

isn't that a bit too tidy for hand sketches?
or am I just messy when i hand draw with hundreds of a4's and a3's?

The desk is great, the lifestyle clues are alluring, but the floor finish is worrying. I first thought cork tiles, but am now thinking peeling vinyl.
