Gustafson Porter and Knight Architects also finalists of RIBA competition
The six finalists of the RIBA’s competition to redesign the electricity pylon have been named as Amanda Levete Architects, Ian Ritchie Architects, Gustafson Porter, Knight Architects, Newtown Studio and Bystrup.
Chair of the judging panel, energy and climate change secretary Chris Huhne, said: “I think that people will be impressed by the quality of these designs and I hope everyone takes the time to get involved and give their view.”
The judging panel also includes architect Nicholas Grimshaw, the National Grid’s Nicholas Winser, former director of the V&A Mark Jones, architect Bill Taylor, engineer Chris Wise, architecture critic Jonathan Glancey and immediate past president of the RIBA Ruth Reed.
The public will be invited to comment on the designs, and these will be taken into account by the judging panel when they make their final decision in October.
