Herzog & de Meuron's Parrish Art Museum nears completion
Long Island gallery opens next month
Herzog & de Meuron’s Parrish Art Museum on the East End of Long Island in New York is nearing completion.
The $26.2 million building will open to the public on November 10.
Museum director Terrie Sultan said: “We could not be prouder of this amazing accomplishment. The new building is a beautiful embodiment of the creative legacy of the Easy End, and with light-filled galleries, a flexible multi-purpose performance space and many other public amenities, the Parrish will take its place as a real centre for cultural engagement.”
The new structure almost doubles the size of the existing facility to 3,196sq m, providing three times the amount of exhibition space.
A series of north-facing skylights will allow for natural light to be evenly filtered throughout the galleries.
