Fire and water

Helsinki-based architects and artists Marco Casagrande and Sami Rintala have completed two installations, one in Montréal, Canada (pictured), and another in a fjord in Norway (pictured).

In Montréal, a 6m chainmail cube has been built, with benches and an open fire inside. It is intended that people in the area, who mostly work in the IT industry, should sit in it and recognise the hearth as part of the common memory of society.

The second work, in a Bergen fjord, is a floating sauna made of translucent materials, completed for an art workshop.
