Have your say on this year’s shortlist

From the nominator: “I’d like to nominate Worcester’s New Library and History Centre (known as The Hive) for the Carbuncle Cup 2012.
If you had another deeper category on the journey to the centre of awfulness, I’m sure it would win that as well.”

It looked quite good when it fronted the recent RIBA Journal. The image above is possibly not its best side.

  • Is that disgarded cardboard box left by the side of the river, known as the Hepworth Gallery, still eligible for nomination?

  • Could this building's mutated half sister "The Golden Banana" by Vinoly feature as well? This year I would like all nominations to have blingtastic golden cladding. Thats my nomination... Vinoly. And anything by Make.

  • Hi Oli,

You can nominate any building completed in the last 12 months or due for completion by the Olympics. Nominations should be sent to bdonline@ubm.com. We won't treat comments as official nominations.

  • All structures with 'blingtastic golden cladding' should automatically be nominated and in that vein I nominate the Deptford Lounge.

The Hive is hideous on the outside, but quite nice on the inside... it might be a flawed nomination. For total awfulness throughout, what about AHMM's Chobham Academy - a shoddy homage to BBC TV Centre.

Not quite bad enough for consideration.

  • Nominees should at least use their brains and offer minimum 100 words WHY their nomination is so awful, not just a quick jibe.
I have looked at photos in several reviews and this Fielden Clegg Bradley building is in my opinion a pretty good project.

I can't see why this should be nominated. It might not be to everyone's taste but its not a bad building...
