  • Yes, this is a really horrible building.

  • Trite, Dull, wasted oportunity, waste of scarce resources, won't be rushing to Belfast to see it.

May I propose that each year's winner be presented with a trophy the shape of this building, this nomination being perfect in that it actually resembles the form a carbuncle cup may take.

This still doesn't beat The Orbit.

  • Compared with other nominations, this is almost a masterpiece!

  • At least the Orbit will have more than five visitors a day. Have you seen the 'exhibition' in the Titanic?!

  • Though to be fair, that's likely not the Architect's fault.

  • I rarely feel the compulsion to comment on here but i have been moved to do so buy the deep dissapointment that this building makes me feel.

I grew up in Belfast and i couldn't agree more with 'Micky Mouse' above "...Dull, wasted oportunity, waste of scarce resources..."

It is worse than the Hive, worse than the Orbit worse than them all but not just on beauty - primarily because when i think of the £90m odd budget that they had and i think of all the possibilities that could have been - my heart genuinely sinks.

This building saddens me in a negative way and architecture should be enriching our lives, making positive changes. This genuinely stands for everything that architecture should not be.

It has secured my vote - and that of anyone I can persuade similarly.

How does this building make the shortlist and Piers Gough's Canada Water Library is nowhere to be seen?

Why can't you have two bad buildings in the klist in one year?

  • Because Piers Gough is "protected". He's a luvvie.

  • Because we don't generally have two buildings by the same practice and we already have a CZWG building nominated... the judges can choose to make an exception, but at the moment we're still in the public nomination phase.
