    We are second-generation architects, Stephen Proctor and I, and our fathers often remind us that we are not the first to try to crack the prefab nut. Steel, timber and concrete have all been used by the profession in pursuit of the Holy Grail; inexpensive and quickly built quality housing. Some of it worked, but most of it didn't, ending up as it has in the built lumps of repetitive components that few want in a home.
