Your report on Edinburgh College of Art’s part I results (News July 28) requires two corrections:

1. Of the 63 students registered for Level 3, 40 passed, 15 have resits, 3 have extensions of time, three have suspended, two are exchange students (who passed).

2. The part 1 programme was validated by the RIBA in June 2005 and received prescription from the Arb in February 2006.

I do not recall playing down the results. They represent a correct assessment of the work which that cohort produced. The staff involved apply rigorous standards and I support them in doing that. The progression rate will be calculated, as always, after the resits.
