Studio Egret West has designed this £100 million MediPark, a "life sciences community" in Nottingham. The scheme, for council vehicle Nottingham Regeneration, is intended to house more than 200 medical firms
The 3.6ha MediPark will sit opposite the Queen’s Medical Centre, close to the River Leen. Subject to planning permission, it will be built in three phases.
Each building boasts two wings with a floor plate of 1,500sq m and a “stem cell” large enough to accommodate a business.
Partner David West said: “We are proposing a system of leaf-shaped buildings, clustered together in threes to form a cloverleaf.
“Our concept for the MediPark is based on stem cells, a physical representation of the “regenerative medicine” occurring inside.”
News of the project will come as a boost to Nottingham City Council, which is bidding to become the 2012 World Design Capital. The project is due to be submitted for planning next month.
