HTA and Urban Splash on list to build 800 homes

Urban Splash, Countryside Properties and HTA are among the firms that have been shortlisted to build the first neighbourhood in the Olympic Park.

In all, six teams are chasing a deal to build 800 homes in Chobham Manor with three-quarters of theme earmarked for family housing.

Urban Splash has linked up with interior design firm Yoo, Swan Housing Association and Shard builder Mace while the East Thames housing group is bidding with Countryside Properties.

HTA has teamed up with Notting Hill Housing and black and ethnic minority housing provider United Housing.

Also bidding is Berkeley subsidiary St James Group, while Taylor Wimpey has partnered with L&Q and Barratt Homes has linked up with US property firm LeFrak Organisation.

All shortlisted bidders have until February to submit outline proposals to the Olympic Park Legacy Company after which the number will be whittled down to three. A winner is due to be named before the games begin next July.

Chobham Manor will offer a mix of terraced housing, mews housing and duplex apartments and will sit next to the Athletes Village. It is one of five neighbourhoods being developed on the whole Olympic Park site with up to 8,000 homes being developed over the next 20 years.
