Carmody Groarke has won an RIBA competition to design Sheffield’s £3 million Festival Centre.
The scheme will extend the facilities provided by the city’s Showroom cinema and the Workstation creative business centre.
Also shortlisted were HLM, Prue Chiles, Houghton Budd Architects, Jason King Associates and a team made up of Sadar Vuga Arhitekti and Designers Republic.
Judges said the winning design, chosen after an anonymous public exhibition, proposed “a very sophisticated spatial solution” and was “a favourite among members of the public”.
