The RIBA has criticised Gordon Brown’s budget for failing to tackle climate change.

“Behind the headline-making tax cuts, there’s not much that’s new and much that’s been left unsaid,” president Jack Pringle said.

He added that incentives to encourage energy saving should be far more generous.

Measures outlined in the budget included stamp-duty exemption for all zero-carbon homes costing up to £500,000, and removing VAT constraints on academies.
