Powell Dobson gets go-ahead for Battersea retirement village

Cardiff-based Powell Dobson Architects has won planning consent for a luxury retirement village overlooking Battersea Park in London.

The £30 million scheme comprises over 125 one and two bedroom apartments, with community and nursing facilities, a hydro-therapy pool, restaurant and gym.

Sustainable features include a heat recovery system, mixed mode ventilation and low energy lighting.

The project is designed to reach Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.

Construction is due to start on site in 2013.
