£2.7m project for Portland Estate
Westminster Council has granted Paul Davis & Partners planning permission for a residential development at 23 – 25 Castlereagh Street, London for the Portman Estate.
The scheme will replace a derelict light industrial building and the addition of residential accommodation will greatly impact the currently dead-end street. The project consists of ten new build apartments over 1050sqm on the edge of the Portman Estate conservation area.
The apartments, formed around a shared courtyard garden, are designed to Code for Sustainable Homes level four, and incorporate green roofs with mounted photo-voltaic panels.
The architects have worked on the £2.7 million project with the engineers Furness Partnership and service engineers Crofton Design. Work is due on site in early 2013 with completion scheduled for spring 2014.
