PRP Architects has been appointed as lead architect and masterplanner for a 2,600-home chunk of Ebbsfleet Garden City in Kent.

It will be the largest “village” within the project’s Eastern Quarry area and is being driven by Clarion Housing Group and Countryside Properties.

PRP’s appointment to the Western Village development follows residential infrastructure firm Henley Camland’s purchase of the Eastern Quarry site from Landsec earlier this year.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation said PRP’s masterplan included a detailed first phase of 250 homes to be delivered as part of a hybrid planning application for Western Village, which it said would “become a strong, cohesive and inclusive community” once complete.

PRP senior partner Manisha Patel said the commission was a “very exciting” prospect.

“We have worked with both developers on a number of occasions and found they have a common focus of creating places with community values at heart, which has also been reflected in the masterplan for Western Village,” she said.

Ebbsfleet Development Corporation is targeting the delivery of 15,000 new homes and up to 30,000 new jobs by 2035.
