FREESTONE ROAD STUDENT RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN CENTRAL BRISTOL 2

Architect Chapman Taylor has submitted plans for a five-block student residential scheme in Bristol.

The development, on Freestone Road alongside the railway line into Temple Meads station, would result in 204 bedrooms in five blocks linked by a series of footbridges.

The scheme is to be developed by commercial property specialist Tiger Developments and will be managed Host Student Housing, the brand of student accommodation outfit Victoria Hall Management.

Chapman Taylor said the design would “complement the industrial heritage of the wider Silverthorne Lane area”, while a simple steel bridge structure at the third floor level “inspired by the industrial character of railway bridges” would connect all five blocks.

If planning is achieved the firm said the accommodation blocks would be completed in time for the 2022 autumn opening of the University of Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

Another Chapman Taylor scheme in Bristol is the 375-home build-to-rent and affordable housing development Castle Park View in the city centre.
