Scheme brings together seven student support services

A new student services centre designed by Bennetts Associates for Cambridge university has been been completed.

The practice, which won BD’s AYA Higher Education Architect of the Year last month, has designed a 6,720sq m project brings seven student support services from across the city into a single location in the middle of the city.

Work involved new build accommodation and refurbishing existing grade II-listed buildings previously used as an arts school.

The work is also part of the wider New Museums Site masterplan, which involves improving surrounding public realm.

Contractor Kier was joined by project manager and structural engineer Aecom, services engineers BDP and Munro Building Services along with cost consultant Edmond Shipway. The heritage consultant on the scheme was Beacon Planning.
