Scheme repurposed agricultural barn as a highly sustainable new home

House in a Barn by Artel31 has been named as the winner of the RIBA South Building of the Year Award 2026.

A total of ten prize-winners were named at the award ceremony yesterday evening (Tuesday), with the jury praising Artel31’s effort as a “joyful and inventive celebration of circular construction” that “provides a masterclass in circular-economy design in a world that is rapidly depleting its raw materials.”
