Scheme is first part of 1,200-home Charlton Riverside development
An affordable homes scheme in Greenwich designed by Alan Camps Architects has been granted gateway 2 approval by the Building Safety Regulator nearly four years after it was granted planning permission.
The 182-home Eastmoor Street scheme is part of housing association Hyde’s Charlton Riverside development and is the organisation’s first project to pass the regulatory hurdle, introduced for higher-risk buildings in 2023.
Technical and construction support for the approval was provided by A&Q Partnership, with Alan Camps Architects providing planning design.
Other architects working on the wider development include Fletcher Priest, SimpsonHaugh, Studio Egret West, Coffey Architects and BPTW.
Of the 182 homes proposed for Eastmoor Street, two-thirds are for social rent and the remaining third targeted at first-time buyers.
Hyde said it had worked closely with its contractor, Formation Design and Build, throughout the process to ensure a successful submission.
“This approval is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and collaborative spirit of everyone involved in this project,” said Andy Hulme, group chief executive officer of the Hyde Group.
Eastmoor Street is Hyde’s first residential development at Charlton Riverside, where it has consent for around 1,200 homes, alongside new public spaces, community and commercial uses, and improved access to the riverfront and Thames Path.
The scheme was approved in 2022, at which point the first phase had been expected to complete by 2026.
