Holder Mathias co-founder Peter Mathias is retiring from the firm this year after 44 years at the practice.

Mathias, who turns 70 this year, steps down next month. He founded the practice back in 1969 with Tim Holder with the pair initially working out of a makeshift office above a Cardiff garage.

It opened a London office in 1978 with its first overseas office, in Munich, opening in 1999.

Mathias said: “It’s been a thoroughly rewarding journey from those early days to the current highly respected practice.”

The firm currently employs 70 staff with a turnover of £5.3 million. Peter Gamble will remain as senior partner along with six other partners.
