Three-storey building will also house Oxford University Press

Hawkins Brown has received planning permission for the £7.5 million Jericho Health Centre at the University of Oxford.

The 4,330sq m building, part of a Niall Mclaughlin Architects masterplan, is located on the former Radcliffe Infirmary site. Its ground floor will house three GP surgeries, visiting consultant services and nursing services.

Meanwhile, Oxford University Press and Oxford University department of primary care health sciences will occupy the upper two floors of the three-storey building.

The building sits at the end of a Victorian terrace near the grade I listed Radcliffe Observatory and will have brick facades with anodised aluminium windows.

Local residents have previously complained about the height of the building, which they said would ruin views of the observatory.

The building is scheduled for completion in May 2012.
