I read with interest Maritz Vandenberg’s comments (Letters July 12). I cannot agree with the critique of our schools of architecture, which have produced generations of practitioners and educators whose influence has spread globally.

UK architecture education produces remarkable syntheses between innovative design, a sophisticated pedagogical position, and an attitude to construction technology and environmental systems that truly advance architectural paradigms.

The reality is of a pluralistic and vibrant community of emergent practitioners who will grapple with and truly understand sophisticated digital software, find solutions to infrastructural and healthcare problems in developing economies, and re-green the city with radical strategies.

The RIBA’s education review will be looking at models to ensure UK architecture education remains fit for purpose for the foreseeable future.
