CABE Urban Design Summer School

Birmingham will host the 2007 school event. And, appropriately for a city that has seen so much change in recent times, the theme of this year’s event is: transformation: the art of creating great places.

The three and a half day residential school offers a highly participative programme of design workshops and expert seminars and is open to anyone whose work influences the design, development and management of the built environment.

This year’s sites will include an area of Eastside in Birmingham, a housing market renewal site and a local market town.

Participants range from urban designers and developers to politicians and public artists, and as such the school has a reputation as a dynamic ideas-sharing forum where the students gain valuable new perspectives from professionals with different background and disciplines.

Summer school projects are designed to mimic real-life challenges and frustrations and to encourage students to think logically about how they will solve problems.

Organiser: CABE
Venue: Aston School of Business Conference Centre, Birmingham
