First phase includes hotel and apartments
Outline planning permission has been granted for the first phase of the £320 million Chesterfield Waterside mixed-use scheme in Derbyshire.
Enabling works began on the project earlier this year after a 10-year hiatus caused by the financial crisis.
The first phase, the £75 million Basin Square designed by Sheffield practice Bond Bryan Architects, comprises a hotel, retail units, apartments, offices and a multi-storey car park and incorporates a former Trebor Bassett sweet factory.
The overall 16 ha Chesterfield Waterside scheme – situated around a new canal basin – will incorporate 1,200 homes and 30,000sq m of offices and retail.
It is being developed by Chesterfield-based developer Bolsterstone, timber merchant Arnold Laver Group and Chesterfield borough council.
