Work has started on the £28 million redevelopment of Barnet College, north London, by education specialist Perkins Ogden Architects.
The 11,000sq m Breeam very good building, in the Chipping Barnet conservation area, replaces its 1970s Wood Street campus and includes a new semi-public square set back from the high street.
The design consists of a main building with four wings, with three courtyards between them, and two pavilion blocks including a lecture theatre and shop. The four wings are covered by a sedum roof.
The scheme is set to be completed in summer 2010.
