Aedas has designed one of the first large buildings to be unveiled at Mipim, a £125 million mixed-use tower for Birmingham.
The mixed-use building, for developer Regal Property Group, will include a hotel, retail, sky bar and residential units on a site on the corner of Broad Street.
It will be presented to Birmingham City Council at its next cabinet meeting on March 19 and a planning application is expected to be submitted in May.
Council leader Mike Whitby said: “The continued commitment we are seeing from developers and investors, even in these uncertain times, is very encouraging and I believe testament to the long-term stable opportunities that this growing city has to offer.”
Work is expected to start on site in 2010, subject to planning approval.
It also emerged this week that designs for the new Library of Birmingham by Dutch practice Mecanoo, will be unveiled in early April by founding partner Francine Houben and the council’s planning director, Clive Dutton.
