Gareth Hoskins, Ewan Anderson, Gordon Murray and Keith Brownlie are among the 28 architects, engineers and planners on Architecture & Design Scotland’s new design review panel.

The panel, unveiled today (FRI APRIL 16) by A&DS’s chair Karen Anderson, was set up after last year’s Scottish government review of the organisation, which called for it to simplify its structure and concentrate on fewer priorities.
Anderson said: “These new panellists will work with A&DS staff to assist developers, design teams and planning authorities by providing constructive, expert advice from an external viewpoint.
“Our key aim in design review is to support and encourage good design and place-making by identifying areas where design quality could be improved at an early stage.”
The 28 panellists are: Alan Hooper, who runs the BArch programme at the Mackintosh School of Architecture; engineer Alasdair Mackerron; Andrew Bayne, who founded ABC Masterplanning; Chris Morgan, principal of Locate Architects; Chris Rankin and Kenny Fraser, partners of Rankinfraser Landscape Architecture; engineer Colin Hamilton; Ewan Anderson, who leads 7N Architects’ studio in Edinburgh; Gareth Hoskins, founder of Gareth Hoskins Architects in Glasgow; Gordon Fleming, a director of Ayr-based ARPL Architects; Gordon Murray, professor in architecture and urban design at Strathclyde University, chair of Schosa and a principal of Gordon Murray & Alan Dunlop Architects; Jim Chapman, emeritus professor of architecture at the Manchester School of Architecture; John Miller, who runs the Edinburgh office of Bennetts Associates; Karen Cadell, urban designer and partner of Cadell2; Keith Brownlie, a director of Wilkinson Eyre; engineer Keith Gowenlock; Kevin Cooper, a director at Archial in Glasgow; the HCA’s Kevin McGeough; Lesley Woodbridge, director of an arts consultancy; landscape architect Lisa Mackenzie; Marc van Grieken, principal of Land Use Consultants; Mark Greaves, of The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment; Peter Richardson, a director of ZM Architecture; Ric Russell, co-founder of Nicoll Russell Studios; Rod Kemsley, founder of studioKAP in Glasgow; Roddy Langmuir, a director with Edward Cullinan Architects; Roger Stephenson, a director of Stephenson Bell; and planner and urban designer Suzanne McIntosh.
