The survey figures, which show a slight increase in architects employed, were overtaken by events at the end of 2010. Shortly after the Top 100 was compiled in October, KPF announced redundancies at its London office, where 45 of the 150 staff are likely to go. It said the rest of its offices were unaffected. Indeed KPF, which lost five partners from the London office 18 months ago when they set up rival practice PLP, opened an office in Seoul and is predicting growth in Latin America.

Among projects completed last year are Dulles International Airport Aerotrain and the Mandarin Oriental in Macau. This year it will finish Centra at Metropark in New Jersey and the Heron Tower in London, which it worked on with PLP. Work continues on its other London tower, the Pinnacle.
