Healthcare specialist Devereux Architects won a place on the UK Department for Health’s new Procure21+ framework, which puts it in a strong position for the future.
It is currently collaborating with other practices on major projects at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, and Barts and the Royal London, which will be Britain’s largest new hospital when it opens in 2012. The practice is also expanding this specialism overseas. It opened two hospitals in the Turks & Caicos Islands last year.
It also has a significant income from education. It was hit by the axing of the UK’s school building programme but is actively exploring opportunities in the new procurement routes.
Chief executive director Nic Allen said: “In the UK we have been affected by the slowdown and cuts in public sector work. We are hopeful that now the Comprehensive Spending Review is out of the way there will be more clarity and returning confidence with some public sector clients.
“I am optimistic that the slowly improving economic situation and the need for many countries to improve their infrastructure will provide us with an increased volume of work in 2011.”
