Job will ‘grow income and build reputation’
The Design Council is looking for a deputy director of architecture and the built environment with would-be candidates having until the end of next week to get their applications in.
The move is part of a plan to get Cabe – since 2011 part of the Design Council – to beef up its income with applicants told the role “will play a key role in business development, identifying key market opportunities to grow income and build reputation”.
Candidates are also told the role will involve leading Cabe’s 14-strong team with the successful candidate expected to “be a spokesperson with gravitas and credibility on all aspects of architecture, the built environment and place making”. Applicants must have “significant experience of operating at a senior level within the architecture/planning/built environment landscape”.
Two years ago, the group appointed Clare Devine as its director of architecture and the built environment which followed a string of high-profile departures from the body.
Cabe was merged with the Design Council after the Coalition government pulled the plug on its public funding under its so-called ‘bonfire of the quangos’ policy.
