Council wants more people living in city
Preston has hired property expert Cushman and Wakefield to come up with plans to attract more people into the city.
The city has unveiled a City Living strategy which aims to identify the new homes people want to live in.
Among those signed up to the initiative are the city council and the Homes and Communities Agency.
The council’s director of development Chris Hayward said: “In terms of planning, Preston city council and its partners have established a clear strategy to enable City Living to move quickly forward.
“We recognise the value of our architectural and heritage assets and open space and we want these to be the catalyst for high quality residential development.”
Among the areas of the city identified as future development sites are Winckley Square and Stoneygate.
Also included is the Harris Quarter which is next door to Benoy’s £50 million Market Quarter retail and leisure scheme (pictured) which was given planning last November.
