Scheme is YAYA winner’s biggest commercial project in UK to date

Coffey Architects has won planning for its biggest commercial project in the UK.

The three-storey Q1 office, approved by Camden council, is the practice’s first in King’s Cross.

It will deliver 4,323sq m, most of it offices with the ground floor given over to retail and leisure.

It will be built over three shallow Network Rail gasworks tunnels which has dictated the structural grid as well as the materials. A steel frame and light composite concrete floors were designed to limit the weight on the tunnels.
