Parklets could help solve the space issue, says Neil Manthorpe
If there’s one thing coronavirus has made me appreciate, it’s being outdoors, and dare I say it, the Great British summer.
Pubs and restaurants are finally back open and those with outdoor seating are seeing business boom. But what about the establishments that don’t have outside space – how do we ensure they aren’t left behind? Already in Wales, where outdoor dining isn’t yet permitted, we’re seeing businesses without outdoor space choose to stay shut rather than reopen. There is an even starker imbalance between rural pubs with ample outdoor space, and inner-city pubs and restaurants with limited space full stop.
