Mayoral nod for Newham homes
2 July, 2009
London mayor Boris Johnson has approved the 750-home Barrier Park East development in Newham, designed by Allies & Morrison.
The proposal, on a former industrial site, includes 270 affordable units and a total of 130 three- and four-bedroom units.
All will meet level four of the Code for Sustainable Homes, with a combined heat and power system cutting carbon emissions by 20%. The plans were given the green light by Newham council last month.
Johnson said the scheme would “support London’s economy with new jobs and business opportunities”.

If it is Code Level 4 it will be 44% reduction in CO2 emmissions, not 20%. Check the Code technical guide; www.communities.gov.uk/theCode
