Martin Richman and Jason Bruges Studio win London 2012 art commissions
10 December, 2008
The Olympic Delivery Authority announced today that Martin Richman and Jason Bruges Studio have been selected as the winning artists for the first in a series of art commissions for the Olympic Park.
The two practices will create art works for bridges and underpasses at the 2012 Olympic site.
Richman’s work will be visual, while Jason Bruges Studio will use audio, light and tactile elements.
After 250 initial expressions of interest, the two winners were selected from a shortlist of eight by a panel including Tate director Nicholas Serota, Louise Trodden, head of Art in the Open, and ODA principal design adviser Ricky Burdett.

Richman’s firm is based in Hackney and Jason Bruges Studio in Tower Hamlets, both host boroughs of the 2012 Olympics.

ODA chief executive David Higgins said: “It is essential that the designs and artwork of the new bridges and underpasses we are building create a lasting memory of the 2012 games while inspiring the new communities that will use the Olympic Park in legacy.
“We have selected two hugely talented artists for this commission, and I look forward to seeing their artwork proposals develop and take shape as the new bridges and underpasses are constructed.”
