The combinatorial effects of coatings, claddings and insulation from different manufacturers in constantly varying combInations across the UK suggests that fire research and warranty companies should play a bigger role. The heavily charred purported PIR insulation at Grenfell shows how much combustion takes places with materials, which by themselves do not support indefinite combustion in isolation, but will contribute to adjacent sources in some situations, in the same way that a candle is designed.
