I agree that there is room for positive and landmark installations or destinations in London and elsewhere and also agree that the early images were enchanting. Of course they were designed to be. In some ways much like a student project as you say. However the reality is that even in a boom time situation there can no longer be an excuse either for ignoring procurement rules, using public transport funds on a private non-transport project, or indeed deliberately portraying a project as environmentally beneficial when in fact it is damaging. Great CGI's and a vocal and well connected PR team, paid for a great public expense, do not make a project great.
