This reckless proliferation of towers -quite indiscriminately placed and not answering the crisis of housing for ordinary Londoners -must be stopped. Where is the voice of the RIBA? This handing over nearly all the new housing developments in large part to wealthy foreign investors is criminal, and will only increase and entrench inequality an destroy the soul of London. The present London mayor has done much to encourage such developments. The new mayor should be elected on the basis of providing a mass council housing programme and an end of right to buy.
