A long overdue accolade for Dame Zaha Hadid.
Her work speaks for itself. I am most familiar with her work in Seoul. The Dongdaemun complex is entirely contextual for it is not just the building but the archealogical park, the museum of the previous Dongdaemun sports stadium and the retention of two of the stadium lamp standards - and a much loved building in Seoul.
Equally her Olympic aquatic stadium in London has become Iconic.

Contextualise has become an excuse for mediocre architecture, critics of her recent Oxford project described it as a spaceship, exactly the same words were used about Stirling's superlative Florey building when it was built!

Pedantic correction, MAD architects are a Beijing based Chinese practice with an off shoot office in Los Angeles.

Absolute Congratulations to Dame Zaha on her Gold Medal.
