It is not just in the rarified atmosphere of Central London that this sort of thing is going on but, right across the country, planners and decision makers have set their face against restraint and caring for tier local environmental quality as they rush to approve hideous and ugly proposals that break all the rules of good planning in a lemming like desire to attract development at any cost to the environment. Those that try to fight these schemes- which areoften sponsored by the very local authorities that have a duty in law to protect their Heritage environments- are publicly criticised as self-appointed interfering nimbys and the newly set up Heritage England meekly accepts anything it is asked to consider, seeming more worried about upsetting local political interests than it is about upholding professional standards of behaviour. Yes the planning system is well and truly broke, Heritage England has lost its nerve and we are all on a handcart heading for hell!
