There is a lot of poor design that springs from a basic lack of understanding on how buildings are put together. I keep thinking about producing a book for students on sh#t detailing as there does seem to be a huge and worrying gulf between those who know how buildings are built and actually get built (the clue as to why this is important is in the word!) and those who think architecture somehow magically transcends the need to know about these realities. (Would it be churlish to bring up any joke made in TED talks about managing to have building that don't leak as being something unusual? Gehry does give a great performance in these, worth a google)

I think Chunfla's amusing and silly little rant helps make this point (and made me laugh!)
