Ron Arad, well there's a blast from the past, whatever happened to him? He was the Thomas Heatherwick of his day: a 'boy wonder', a 'genius' with well oiled connections who had all the journalists eating out of the palm ofhis hand.
If this chair is so good, why does it need to be redesigned by a host of trendy architects? It was hardly original at the time and it could hardly be desribed as influential.
It sounds like the unquestioning adulation continues- according to this report this is not a mere chair, it is a 'stacking sculpture'. That's what genius does for you.
