I, and colleagues, have had to go through the process of pulling together the information for BREEAM, Ecohomes, and CfSH. Like time spent playing golf, you realise that you are never going to get that time back to spend doing something you want to do, like some real, useful work, or spending time with the family.

It has to be the most pointless, anal retentive process I have ever come across, made worse by it usually being done in retrospect, so having zero influence on a building design, and being done with assessors who are pointedly useless (incapable of reformatting a spreadsheet which already gives them every piece of information they could want), for an organisation in the BRE that appears to be seriously in love with itself to the point of onanism given its highly prescriptive and inflexible demands for information, demands which get reflected in the intransigence of the assessors we are forced to go through.

If I could ban it I would, an utter waste of time, a pointless process that adds no value and does little to promote real sustainability, other than in the minds of wishful thinkers.
