What a brilliant result for residents, who put it forward for listing after the Council threatened to demolish it in 2008. The 100 households in Edenham Way are mainly tenants, with a smattering of original Right to Buy, maybe one or two have been sold on but the vast majority are social tenants who love their estate and appreciate the thought and care Goldfinger put into designing their flats and houses. Many of them were decanted there from neighbouring 'slums' and have seen grandchildren grow up there; it's a proper neighbourhood.

While listing is a mixed blessing of course, it will at least protect it from the avarice of the Council and ensure a respectful and appropriate development is agreed upon for the site of the demolished old people's home in front of Trellick Tower.

It needs proper maintenance and repair; let's hope it will get it now, particularly the appalling road surface.
