Grimshaw can stand beside the Clifton Suspension Bridge and have himself photographed for as long as he likes, but he's learned nothing from Brunel. There is not a single component in any of Brunel's projects that is not performing some essential structural function. Grimshaw's projects, on the other hand, are festooned with unnecessarily over-designed structural details that break simple junctions into multiple components and do everything in as complicated a way as possible. Brunel would turn in his grave if he could see Grimshaw's "engineering".
