Young practices need good clients more than design competitions. design competition winners will more often than not come up with the slick killer image whilst the more considered proposal suffers. good design is about collaboration and so user, client and design them need to be involved. Far. Better to use the competitive interview backed up with some thoughts than a full blown competition. And pay for it even if only a nominal amount.
