Mies' shameless self-promotion with the Nazis in order to further his own career is well-known. I find it disturbing that Jonathan Woolf plays this down, carried away he is by the crispness and expertise of Mies' architectural and construction skill. In view of what was happening on the streets of Berlin when these houses were built, Woolf's ability to set this all aside, as if it didn't matter, is quite astonishing.
