The new museum on Liverpool's once-elegant waterfront is a true example of an architectural carbuncle. This building would not look out of place on an industrial estate, or a new town college campus. However, setting is everything, and in this case the setting is a World Heritage site.
It seems to scream "look at me, I'm modern!" but all the while it is simply a Niemeyer rehash with all the style of a 60s lava lamp. Tacky in the extreme.
