The new and much awaited East London line does promise the benefits of a cheap, fast service. It is neither of the two. The depiction of a greyhound in Tfl's advertising posters seems very ambitious. It is no better than the services it has replaced. However it does open up areas previously overlooked.
It holds a mirror to the so called virtues of PFI: mean spirited architect
resulting in budget savings. London was once the future, it certainly isn't now.
